Obama Administration and the Alien Nation

As promised, a press conference was held Monday at the National Press Building in Washington, DC to bring forth UFO activity in relation to nuclear weapon facilities in the 1960s. Robert Hastings, a UFO researcher, and former U.S. Air Force Captain, Robert Salas led the conference.
The forum included testimonies from seven former US Air Force personnel, one of which was Salas's story about his experience at Malstrom AFB's subterranean Oscar-Flight Launch Control Center (LCC) capsule near Roy, Montana.

The press conference led one researcher to believe that more of the same type of symposiums will be held during the Obama administration. Alfred Lambremont Webre, who writes for the Seattle Exopolitics Examiner, stated a similar opinion in Monday's issue:

“For the first time since the early days of the presidency of Barack Obama in 2009, a wave of scheduled or predicted events around the theme of ‘official’ disclosure of extraterrestrial life to the human civilization of Earth appears to be surging,” wrote Webre. “The early days of the Obama administration were rife with rumors that ET ‘disclosure is imminent’ and one observer predicted, ‘An official announcement by the Obama administration disclosing the reality of extraterrestrial life is imminent.’"

Lake of Skeletons

My fabulous, furry friend Che sent me this interesting piece:

IN 1942, a frozen lake of over 200 skeletons in Rookund, India was discovered by a forest guard. The first assumption was that the skeletons had belonged to Japanese soldiers. When that was ruled out, the main mystery was how had these people died? It was later discovered that the skeletons belonged to a family as well as travelers that date back to 850 AD.

According to the article: "All the bodies had died in a similar way, from blows to the head. However, the short deep cracks in the skulls appeared to be the result not of weapons, but rather of something rounded. The bodies also only had wounds on their heads, and shoulders as if the blows had all come from directly above. What had killed them all, porter and pilgrim alike?"

It turns out there is a traditional folk song among Himalayan women describes a goddess so angry that outsiders had come into her territory that she killed them by throwing hailstones "hard as iron." After further research, it was concluded that the people did die from a severe hailstorm.

UFOs and Nuclear Bombs: It's Monday

According to this article in AOL News, years of silence will be broken today in Washington, DC when former U.S. Air Force officers come forward with information about UFOs at nuclear weapons sites.

According to the article, Air Force Capt. Robert Salas will host the press conference. Salas was a first lieutenant in 1967, and served as a missile-launch officer while stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana. He also co-authored Faded Giant - a book about the military and government's conspiracy to cover-up the existence of UFOs.

On March 16, 1967, Salas was working at a launch-control center equipped with ten nuclear missiles.

"I got a call from the topside guard, telling me they were watching some strange lights flying around in the sky, making odd maneuvers. They didn't think they were airplanes because they were going very fast, turning on a dime and not making a bit of noise," Salas told AOL News. "A few minutes later, he called back, this time screaming into the phone, scared to death, and he said, 'Sir, I'm looking out my front window and there is a glowing red oval-shaped object hovering right above the front gate, and I've got all the guards out here with their weapons drawn.' "

Salas said following the siting, the missiles were disabled.

He says he believes that if enough military personnel testify in the existence of extraterrestrials and share their experiences, the public will start to take UFOs more seriously. He claims that the people who will come forward today will be just the "tip of the iceberg."

Hopefully we will hear more about this late Monday and early Tuesday. Read the whole article here.

A Mental Hospital and a Big, Pink Boat! Ghost Adventures in Rolling Hills Asylum

Ahhhh, Ghost Adventures. On Friday night's episode, the guys went to Rolling Hills Asylum in Bethany, NY, which once housed orphans, homeless mothers and their children, and the criminally insane. Such a messed-up mix, of course, leads to a vast buffet of paranormal energy.

One of the orphans was Roy - a man who suffered from giantism. Tragically, his father dropped him off one day at Rolling Hills when Roy was 12 and never came back for him. Roy spent fifty years in the place and eventually died there. When GAC did their lock down, they captured two very convincing photographs of a giant figure.

Also present? An evil nurse named Emmy, who dabbled in the black arts. Ooooo, you can imagine the creepy EVPs the guys captured. Some were a little hard to decipher, but some were so clear they made me jumpy, especially a scream heard by Nick while he was alone in Nurse Emmy's former room.

In another memorable part of the episode, Aaron got a face full of spider web, which later turned out may have been little slaps around his face. Aaron also caught a slamming, metal door on camera.

I was watching the episode late at night alone and was sure I saw a white flash of light appear to the left of my face. Oh, how I love the creeps of the GAC!

Of course, the show wouldn't be complete without the guys' entertaining side excursions. This time? River rafting near Niagara Falls in a "big, pink boat."

Dude, who's scared of a big, pink boat??
Zak says: "Does the boat match my lip gloss?"

**On a side note, check out this guy's blog post. He talks about filming with GAC and has some incredible behind-the-scenes photos of taping the Rolling Hills episode.

Zombies, The New Vampires?

I found an interesting article about the rise of zombies in pop culture and the contrast between the walking dead of Hollywood and the practice of Haitian voodoo in the real world.

The article mentions a poison used in Haiti that is derived from the puffer fish, called tetrodotoxin. The drug apparently puts people into a state where their vitals are so low, they can be pronounced dead. Usually when the person comes out of the state, they find themselves working as a slave. Such was the case of Clairvius Narcisse whose story was the inspiration for The Serpent and the Rainbow.

Brad Steiger, one of the most well-known writers dealing with paranormal phenomena, recently wrote a book called Real Zombies, the Living Dead and Creatures of the Apocalypse. In it, he writes about the history and reported cases of zombies in the real world.

Steiger recently told AOL News: "I have an account of a man from Miami who went to Haiti and was dancing with a very lovely Haitian lady, and he felt a little prick on his arm and didn't think anything of it. Next thing he knew, he woke up, was still in his suit and tie, but he was soiled and dirty and was holding a hoe in somebody's field."

Also on the zombie horizon? AMC's upcoming series called The Walking Dead, which will premier on Halloween night.

Irish Pub to Open in a Funeral Home

An Irish pub called "McBrides" is set to open in the garage of Monahan Funeral Home in Providence, RI.

"Inside there will probably be seating for 55 to 60 people," owner, Mark Russell, told WPRI Eyewitness News. "There will be a full kitchen. It will serve pub grub."

The article states that the people in the neighborhood are upset about it because it's situated in an upscale area on the east side of town and they're worried about the noise level.

To appease the residents of the area, the pub has agreed to close earlier than other bars in Providence.

That's right. The article never mentions that anyone is even slightly curious about the fact that the pub will be inside a funeral home, only that they're upset because it's in a lotty-da neighborhood.

It's Raining Men

Well only one man. Eyewitnesses in New Jersey say they saw a man fall from the sky last week.

"I [saw] the guy falling, at an angle, like this," an eyewitness told NBC Philadelphia while gesturing. "Straight down. No parachute. No paraglider. . . You could see the arms and legs flailing and his clothes were blue, a dark blue like a navy, black and gray. There's no doubt that it was a person. We're 100 percent sure."

But no one turned up after a police search.

"We're not actively out there searching, but we're waiting for more information," said police Sgt. Robert Gray.

PennHurst to Open "Asylum Haunted House"

PennHurst State School and Hospital, a former institution for the mentally disabled, is now a "haunted house", causing an uproar among advocates for those who were once patients there.

Located in Spring City, PA, the new entertainment site was once home to over a thousand people who were abused and neglected. Despite the hospital's exploitation, those running the new business are employing 95 people and hoping to attract thousands of visitors.

I'm not sure I would want to visit the place as a "haunted house", but I would definitely like to see it as a historical place. Why are there no daytime tours? Perhaps they could open the building as a museum of sorts and collect money that way as well.

Ghost Adventures did a memorable show on PennHurst last season. See a clip from the show here.

You can read the article about the controversy here. Also, some amazing urban exploration photos of the place from 2008 can be found here.

Thanks to my sister, Lynn, who sent me the info on this place!

World's Largest Spider Web

According to BBC Earth News, a recently-discovered spider from Madagascar spins the largest web on record, spanning 82 feet and able to catch over 30 insects at any moment. Scientists from the Journal of Arachnology say,

"Some of the webs qualify, to the best of our knowledge, as the largest spi
der webs ever documented."

The web isn't only huge, it's tough - made of the strongest biomaterial yet known in nature. The creature making all the fuss is known as Eistein's Bark Spider. You can read the full article here.

Thanks to my friend Cat for this photo. Terrifying!

They're Baaaaaack

And so am I. I'm updating again as it's Halloween season once more (YAY!). What better way to kick things off than with a post about Ghost Adventures?

This week, they aired the premier show of the season and the guys went to Gettysburg. The results were, like usual, fun and creepy. I did think that Zak played up his new-found fame a bit too much. It looked like he had had his teeth capped with veneers (they were glowing eerily throughout the episode) and was wearing a touch of pink lip gloss. And can we discuss the spray tan? Come on, Zak. You're not Pamela Anderson. You're Zak Bagans, the tough guy who harasses ghosts!

The montages of the guys "fighting" in the Civil War was way over the top, but made me laugh. It did eclipse any scary bits they got, which I honestly can't remember. Can someone post
something in the comments section to jog my memory? Thanks!

Zak:"I scare ghosts with my shiny, supple mouth."
