Shoulda Coulda Woulda

Wow, I've done a really crappy job of keeping up with this blog this year. It's been a busy few months and Halloween is already tomorrow! I haven't even had time to catch up on Ghost Adventures! Next year, I vow to be more on top of things.

Here's a picture of my friend and I after having seen Paranormal Activity 4 today. Apparently I was so scared I lost my eyebrows.

American Horror Story Kicks Off Second Season with a Hot Bang

The first episode of American Horror Story Asylum was a brilliant, campy, and creepy kickoff to the season Wednesday night. We got to see Adam Levine mutilated by some sort of creature that lives in the death chutes of Briarcliff Asylum - the institution that the second season revolves around. We also got to see the delightful Evan Peters return to AHS as another lovable and troubled character, this time named Kit Walker.

The star of the show, of course, is Jessica Lange, this time playing Sister Jude. She's a hardboiled nun with a Boston accent whose vulnerability lies in the lustful heart hiding beneath her righteous exterior. Speaking of which, the sex is still alive and blazing this season. We got to see Sister Jude literally let her hair down and climb in a priest's lap,  also Evan Peters's naked butt in the first episode.

In addition, there's a creepy doctor named Dr. Arden who runs Briarcliff and is feeding inmates to some sort of creature that lives in the death chutes; a budding reporter who gets trapped in Briarcliff; and a serial killer named "Bloody Face" who wears a mask made out of his victims' skin.

Since the show is just getting started, looks like  Halloween will last a little longer than October 31 this year. . .

Based on the Novel

I happened upon this great list while looking for ideas on what to write for my latest column, which concerns books made into movies.  In honor of Halloween, I'd like to write something based on a horror novel. In years past, I've written about Dracula, Poltergeist, The Amityville Horror, and the Possession of Joel Delaney. I'm thinking The Exorcist this year.

It's Back! Paranormal Activity 4 to Be Released in October

Paranormal Activity returns in October with it's fourth installment, Paranormal Activity 4. The story takes place in 2011, five years after Katie offed most of her family and stole her sister's baby, Hunter.  When Katie and Hunter move to a new neighborhood, their neighbors get a taste of the hellish hoopla Katie dishes out.

If Paranormal Activity 4 is anything like the last three films, we're in for a wild ride!

Spooky Summer in South Korea

Summer, not autumn, is when South Koreans celebrate all things that go bump in the night. The traditional ghosts, called "gwishin" are believed to be the souls of the dead trapped here on earth. Those interested in gwishin visit a place called The Yongin Village, which is supposed to be the paranormal heart of South Korea. It is believed this is where the gwishin roam the countryside. This is also where there are numerous amusement park haunted houses. A history of the village and the gwishin can be found here.

Can't Get Enough of Those Abandoned Hospitals

I found this very fantastically eerie video on an urban exploration website called The Fifi Organization. This video, titled Abandoned Hospitals of the Eastern U.S. contains creepy audio from the cassettes the urban explorers found in the hospitals. Very Session 9.

Haunted Toothbrush!

How many times have we said about a malfunctioning electronic, "This thing is possessed!" Connecticut's Norwalk Citizen has a hilarious article I just read that addressed that very thing. The writer relays his story about his electric toothbrush being haunted. It's a fun read and made me think of "haunted" electronics I may have owned in the past. Those that spook me the most are the toy fire engines and ambulances my son has that light up and blare in the middle of the night for not reason at all. It makes me want to yank the batteries out of them the way this guy did with his toothbrush.

American Horror Story Returns

American Horror Story is back this fall and will be titled American Horror Story: Asylum. If you haven't already heard, it's filled with a completely new cast of characters (some actors will return as new characters including Jessica Lange and Evan Peters) and is set in a new place - this time a church-run sanitarium in New England. I can feel the chills already.

Check out the creepy new trailers for the show:

Back in Black

I'm Baaaaack!  (Don't I say that every year when I return to this blog?) Anyway, that time of year is springing into the air, and while I live in the desert and no longer see the leaves starting to change, I always know it's here when JoAnn Fabrics gets their Halloween goodies in the store. This year, I noticed them about two weeks ago. Lots of good stuff in Michaels too, including big, lifelike crows  that vanished when I went back to pick a couple up!

Anyway, if you are reading this, welcome back to my blog. It's time to get spooked. . .

Adrian says, "Ride your broom, Mom."
